Roots
Roots serves as an exploration of my cultural background through which I try to understand how it shapes and defines our personal identity. This series consists of portraits depicting my grandparents, family archive, still-life images and photographs of natural landscapes which were essential during my childhood. After leaving my home country and exposing myself to new cultural norms, I have become aware of the impact which our traditions, ancestors, social-cultural norms or even landscape of our country have on our behavioral patterns, values and beliefs. In this series, I aim to make my audience reflect on their own personal experience because even though we all have been raised in different cultures, families and conditions, we are all affected and formed by them.
