For the father’s faith, for Živa
Can we bring back the faith that was taken from us?
In this work, I am inspired by a Slovenian poem The Baptism on the Savica which depicts a love story during violent Christianization of the predecessors of the Slovenes. My photography series delves into folk stories, traditions, and beliefs of old Slavic mythology in comparison to Christian religion which pushed paganism into oblivion. Fascinated by the Slavic goddess Živa I visit Lake Bled, where a temple dedicated to her used to stand. In this mystical place, I aim to recreate and rediscover the presence of Živa by visually constructing her attributes, traditions and the goddess herself.
